Couples in Cycling

Valentines Day is a wonderful day for many couples around the world, also for our our favourite cycling heroes. In this article, we list down a few of the most famous cycling couples. You problably know some of them already but maybe you'll also be suprised. Enjoy it because 'Love is ... cycling together'.

 

Elia Viviani & Elena Cecchini

 

The star couple of Italian cycling. Viviani & Cecchini are already a couple for quite a few years. Currently they are engaged. 

 

Elia Viviani won stages in all grand tours, brought the points jersey home in the Giro and became European Champion and took the victory in many WT-level one day races. Elena Cecchini had many podium spots in hilly classics. 

 

Katarzyna Niewiadoma & Taylor Phinney

 

Their fairytale started in Qatar in 2016,  after the local capital city hosted the worldchampionships over there. They divide their time between Boulder and Girona.

 

Kasia Niewiadoma is already one of the best and most allround cyclists in the world for many years now, despite her young age. So far she won the Amstel Gold Race, the Women's Tour and much more. Taylor Phinney is a former time trial Vice-Worldchampion. He also has a stage in the Giro and a 4th place in the Olympic Road Race on his palmares.

 

Tadej Pogacar & Urska Zigart 

  

The secret of winning a Tour de France is having a strong partner to support you. All last 10 Tour de France winners had a girlfriend at the moment of their victory. The young couple has problably more victories ahead of them, then behind them.

Tadej Pogacar also won 3 stages in both the Tour de France & Vuelta a Espana and is currently also the last winner fo the Tour of California. Urska Zigart became the Slovenian time trial champion for the first time last season.

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot & Julien Absalon

 

 

A better couple could the world of MTB problably never have. The French power couple are both among the best of their generation, problably the best. 

Julien Absalon focused mainly on the mountainbike, but 'PFP' also focused on road cycling and cyclocross. She became worldchampion in both disciplines and off course she also won 6 world titles in mountainbiking.
