 Interview Ségolène Thomas

After making promotion to a ProTeam this year, she already booked her first noticeable results in a World Tour race as well. Ségolène Thomas finished 8th in the Queen's stage of the Vuelta a Burgos, and that confirmed the strong results that the booked in smaller races before. The now 26-years old rider is in front of her best years now. She grew up near the mountains and aims to develop further on this terrain. Get to know the promising French rider in in our chat.

You've had a good spring, do you feel you've improved this year?

Yes, I've had some good results in the first half of the season, and I'm really satisfied. I think I've set a step forward this year. 

How do you feel in your new team?

I feel really good in my new team, there's a great atmosphere with the girls.

What are your ambitions in the sport?

I want to continue to perform well in great races, particularly stage races, but above all I want to continue to enjoy myself.

You grew up near the Vosges. What are your favourite climbs in this region?

My favourite pass is the Col du Petit Ballon in the Vosges mountains. The view is magnificent during the last few kilometres of the climb

Where will you be racing in the coming months?

I'll be racing the Alps Gresivaudan Classic this weekend, then the Tour des Pyrenees and the French Championships at the end of June. What do you like to eat before the race?

What interests you most outside cycling?

I trained as a food engineer, so I'm very interested in anything to do with product innovation.

What's your fondest memory of sport so far?

There are many, but the best was my first race with the professionals when I started cycling 4 years ago at the Mont Ventoux Dénivelé Challenge.
