All Time Classics Rankings (M/F)

The new all time Classics Rankings

In this article you can discover the all time rankings, and how they were built-up, seperately for the best male & female riders. Who are the the best classics riders in the sport? The rankings are updated until the Tour of Flanders, of last Sunday.

The men's rankings

Eddy Merckx is leading the rankings, two active riders join him on the podium.

Note that not all the big classics that we know today have always been part of the top tier in cycling before, while some others from the past disappeared from it. The Omloop wasn't part of the top tier in cycling until 2017, while Bordeaux-Paris and the Japan Cup used to be part of it in other decades. Today there are more cobble & sprint races in the top tier than before.

For the rankings, we used all the races who were part of the top league in cycling + World championships since 1948. To be sure that most top riders were always at the start of the counting races and we have a representative classics ranking, adjusted by a point scale.

The women's rankings

Marianne Vos is currently the leader in this ranking, and she can still expand her lead, this season. The also still active Van der Breggen is in second now, while Lotte Kopecky is quickly rising through the ranks too. Demi Vollering joined the Top 10, this Sunday.

The women's rankings start in 1998, the start of the first top tier in women's cycling where most of the best riders in the World were always at the start, and of course also the Worldchampionships are blended in the mix.
