 Interview Olympia Norrid-Mortensen

A new strong block of Danish dynamite has arrived in the peloton. Olympia Norrid-Mortensen has made a strong start of the season abroad. The 21 years old rider won a race in the Belgian circuit against experienced sprinters and also just finished outside of the top 10 of the Gracia Orlava, a Czech UCI race that has been an ideal spot to discover future talents in the past few years. The young Dane would like to keep building further on her strenghts and chase her limits. In this interview, she tells more about herself and gives some advice to other young riders who want to live their cycling dream as well.

You have done consistently well between riders with WT experience this season. Do you feel that you have set a step forward this season?

Yes I feel like I took a very big step up, with my winter traning this season and is just very happy to see myself improve. And I'm exited to improve even more!

You have been racing abroad almost every week since March. How does it feel to be away from home for a few months now?

I do miss my family and friends alot, but cycling has given me so much joy. I get to meet so many new and cool people, so it makes it so worth it, and with that I also get to live my dream life:

Denmark is a quite small country but has delivered many cycists at the highest level. What is your secret?

I think that we do have a very good level in Denmark, but for my point it's very importen to go race in other countrys, to help improving. Then a strong mindset is definitely also needed

What are your main interests outside cycling?

Outside of cycling, I really love cooking and spending time with my loved ones

Which kind of rider would you like to become? a classic rider? or more like a pure sprinter?

Between a classic rider and a pure sprinter, I lean more towards a classic rider because I really like hills and active races. So I would just prefer anything other than a bunch sprint

What do you like the most about the sport?

What I love most about the sport is pushing myself to the limits. Traveling is also a plus in the sport. And i get to meet many amazing and cool people I meet. Then I don't mind tanlines either.

Which advice would you give to other young girls who would like to start racing?

My advice for young girls is to have fun and test different disciplines, and eat your carbs <3
